Strung Out

Success!

After wasting only three sets of strings, I've successfully managed to change the strings on my first guitar, even get it in tune! In my guitar class this past week, the teacher showed us how to change guitar strings. I decided that it was time to try this out myself. Rather than risk messing up my nice PRS Santana SE guitar, I decided to try it on my el-cheapo Fender Affinity Strat. After multiple cases of the string balls getting stuck, strings popping loose after I trimmed them (making them basically useless to restring), and assorted problems, I think I've more or less figured this out. The secret appears to be to thread the end of the string back under the string and then back through the hole in the tuning fork. This seems to form a tighter knot and holds it in place.

Now to brave changing the strings on the good guitar...
