*sigh* Life with a cat...

Yesterday, I happened to walk into my bedroom to see my cat Tiger running around excitedly and meowing loudly. He seemed to be really interested in my dresser, for some reason.

I came in to investigate and found my other cat Jewel, hanging behind the dresser, seemingly holding on for dear life. Now, she has a habit of going back there and sitting behind the dresser. I had noticed she was back there earlier and didn't think much of it. This time though, she wasn't sitting on the floor, she was hanging in the air behind the dresser. She seemed to be in trouble. That's when I noticed that she kept yanking one of her paws. It seemed to be stuck on something. I noticed that her claws had got caught in the vents of the fan on the back of the Tivo player that I have sitting on the filing cabinet next to my dresser. No doubt she had tried to climb up and gotten her claw caught in there.

After seeing this, I knew she was in big trouble. so I shoved all the stuff around the dresser out of the way (almost running over Tiger in the process). I reached back and pulled her up from behind the dresser. I tried to free her claw without much luck. It was stuck in that fan vent really well. Plus, the spinning fan inside was no doubt making it more difficult. So, I unplugged the Tivo to stop the fan. That helped a little but she was still trapped. I ended up having to get a pair of nail clippers and cutting her claws in order to free her. She wasn't happy about it, but I got her out. I examined her paw and it appeared to be ok, thankfully. This makes at least twice I've had to save this stupid little cat from doing something dangerous to her health.
