I've stated in my previous blogs, that you must weight train as part of a successful fat loss program. Many women are afraid to weight train, thinking that if they do, they'll turn into big, muscular, 'manly' women. It won't happen.
It is physically and genetically impossible for a women to build 'manly' muscles. A woman will never be able to become as muscular as a man. This is not a sexist, comment, it is a biological fact. In order to build fat, your body needs to make use of the hormone testosterone. Without it, you can't build muscle. Testosterone, as you may know, is the 'male hormone', with estrogen being the 'female hormone'. A woman's body produces both estrogen and testosterone. At the same time a man's body produces both testosterone and estrogen. However, a woman's body produces much less testosterone than a man's body does. Since a woman's body produces less testosterone, she won't be able to produce muscles as large as a man will (without the aid of illegal steroids anyway) Since men's bodies produce more testosterone than women's bodies do, they will always develop larger muscles.
Ladies, feel free to weight train as much as you like. You won't get manly, you'll get healthy!
