Rick the Guitarist?
Well, how about that? I may yet get the hang of this guitar thing.
Yesterday, was the fourth meeting of my guitar class. There are a total of eight classes in this 'semester'. I am definately going to be signing up for this class again. I think this class has been a big help in my quest to learn the guitar. I think I'm slowing beginning to get the hang of this thing. I've learned three of the seven major chords and am working on the remaining four of them now. That's my homework for this week - learn all the major chords. A few months ago, I would not have thought it possible. Now I'm pretty sure I'll at least have the chords memorized by my next class. Will I play them perfectly? Of course not. I still have a long way to go before that happens, but I am making progress. A while back the teacher gave us a couple of simple songs that use the A, E and D major chords ("Wild Thing" and "Louie Louie") and had us practice those. While I'm far from clean at playing them, I am definately getting faster and cleaner at it. I'm even starting to notice a little 'finger memory' when it comes to the chord shapes. I can almost jump right into the fingering position and location on the guitar without thinking of it! I still end up landing in the wrong place sometimes, but for the most part, I'm getting there. I think being in a class surrounded by people that suck as bad as I do helps lower the stress level quite a bit. Hey, we all suck, so if I play bad, noone is going to care.
I am starting to get excited about this. My playing is almost starting to sound like music! :)
